The Story
Currently, there is growing number of single mother households in our society with children of all ages growing up without proper guidance about how to navigate their lives. Single mothers want the best for their children, but most of the time they are unable to provide for their children due to scarce resources. These families are characterized by poverty, hunger, some of them are homeless and their children are unlikely to go to school. Ā In the long-run these children can become a burden to the society.
Our campaign aim to help to empower and support single mothers so that they can stand on their feet, take care of their children and live a respectable life.Ā Islam lays a heavy emphasis on the financial, emotional and psychological well being the widows and orphans in the society.
The Messenger of Allah ļ·ŗ said: It is better for one among you to bring a load of firewood on his back and give charity out of it (and satisfy his own need) and be independent of people, than that he should beg from people, whether they give him anything or refuse him. Verily the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (charity) with your dependents. [Muslim]. The beneficiaries of our single mother campaign are a living example of the hadith of the Prophet ļ·ŗ regarding those who try to work to earn a Halal and respectable income instead of begging others.
Fund Usage
GlobalSadaqah strongly supports empowerment and the concept of turning beneficiaries into benefactors. This breaks the cycle of dependency, and allows a family to live a life of honour.
Donations to this campaign will be used to empower and support single mothers. We also add to this, new converts to Islam who have been abandoned by their families.
